God’s Attributes

God’s Attributes

God’s Attributes are Absolute

For the Creator who is Eternal and Everlasting, His attributes must also be eternal and everlasting. He should not lose any of His attributes nor acquire new ones. If this is so, then his attributes are absolute.

Can there be more than one Creator with such absolute attributes?

This questions refers to whether there can be more than one, simultaneous absolutely powerful Creators. Across all the hierarchical systems in the world, it is evident that at any one time there is only one person in charge, such as one CEO, one monarchy and one President.

If there were two heads of an organisation or two heads of state there is a great risk of failure. Inevitably there would be conflict, differences of opinion and difficulties with smooth decision making. Operations would become disjointed with time spent deliberating rather than focusing on the core task of running the operation. This would lead to corruption and thus does not represent the harmonious, precise, fine-tuned operation that the One God, Allah, has over the universe.

This type of situation is summarised in the Qur’an itself;

‘Allah has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity. [If there had been], then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have sought to overcome others. Exalted is Allah above what they describe [concerning Him]’ (23:91).

‘Had there been within the heavens and earth gods besides Allah, they both would have been ruined. So exalted is Allah, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe’ (21:22).

A moment’s contemplation comes to the realisation that a multiple almighty is not feasible.
